Hi! My name is Nawal Abdirahman.
I am Somalian. I came to the United States on September 13, 2007. I used to live in different countries in Africa, such as Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. I was born and raised in Somalia, Mugadishu. When I come to the United States, I started go to school because I was young and my family did not want me go to work. They wanted me to go to school and get a good education. I am glad that I did that, because this is my life- everything I did, I did for myself. I am the one who is going to live my life, not anyone else. I really love to help my family. If I graduate from high school and college, then it will help my life and the people who care about me so much. I go to high school here in Atlanta, Georgia. I go to Clarkston High school now, but next year when school is open I am trying to go different school, and I am here to do summer intership on Sagal Radio. I want to graduate high school next year if GOD say so. INSHA ALLAH!
get the work really hard or leave it!!!
World Refugee Day!
Last friday I went to World Refugee Day!
I saw dances, and I saw a guy from the Middle East that sang in Arabic and Farsi. I had a perfect day that day, it was friday and I love Fridays because Friday is last day of the week and Fridays are Muslim holy days. It is our day, and back home Fridays are our weekends. I met different people from different countries. I saw Bhutanese dancers and they were perfect dancers. we had a lot of people from different communities that came to celebrate with us that day, and I really appreciated them and I thank them. It meant a lot me and I hope it meant a lot to all refugees that live here in this community.

Here doctors and a nurse!
That day I was vaccinated. I hate medicine, I don't know why- but I do. But it is not that bad, I think. I hope that day a lot of people were vaccinated.
Here some people enjoying Refugee Day!
Here are adults and kids watching soccer. That day was US VS Uruguay and they were tied. I really had fun with the kids, I interviewed a couple of them and they were really nice.
life is what u get!!
I remember this day. I went to Refugee family Services with Ms. Paula. I remember this day distinctly, because we made a video with two guys that I met there. I remember one of them was my friend Anju's brother. However, we never got a chance to see the movie. I was the producer of the movie, and it's funny to see what produced, and it's quite an experience for me. I always wanted to produce a movie. I even wrote the script for the movie. I still keep it with me. I am just waiting for a time to produce the movie completely. But I think time will get it here, all I need is patience :)
sometimes life is really excited.
When I went there I met different people who work there. I saw a lot of the studio like how did they make recordings for the stories. I even met the director from PBA30, and I met the news broadcaster. I saw different things that I never saw before. It was something unforgettable.
Sometimes when saw things that u don't see a lot it really exciting so see. I only watched the channel before and know I got the chances to see their studio n know I got the chances to see their studio and see what do they do their and learn different things from them.
